I have facilitated college tours, signed him up and paid for programs outside of school that will help him grow musically and prepare him for a better presentation in his applications but he still hasn’t finished his essay and it’s February. I think at this point he won’t make into the music program like he has been dreaming about. I am frustrated and have spoken to him harshly of what the situation he is allowing himself to get into and I know he is frustrated depressed anxious, etc. I just can’t keep staying quiet and watch him flush down the toilet his chances. What can I do? Or not do?

And let me add not one single application submitted. He says he desperately wants to go to college and the thought of not makes him cry but he can’t seem to get pass this hurdle. Is he just not mature Enough and perhaps not ready for it yet? I am so heartbroken for him.

I feel that it is bias that a person who reads Marvel comics would not be considered because of this. That person could be the next journalist or author. Maybe they are interested in the dynamics of how Marvel books are made and want to become an engineer who makes games. Also I am glad that test scores are optional because all students don't test well but make excellent grades and are that curious, inquisitive, creative and critical thinker who would do extremely well In Columbia.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to say good luck to everyone who is or will be applying to Penn! It’s application season and I know things are extremely tough both mentally and physically exhausting. The string of doubts, yet pulled with anticipation, weighs upon our mindsets. I know that a lot of us are looking at videos on “how I got into Penn” or Reddit’s “Chance me’s” and thinking perhaps we are not as “competitive” as we think (I’m also one of them 🙋‍♀️). Ignore all of that (I know it’s hard) and just try your best! Take your shot! Whatever schools you get into, it’s meant to be! ❤
